Ladies Union Aid Society
The Ladies Union Aid Society (LUAS) established Valley Regional Hospital in 1893. LUAS was originally comprised of 13 women who formed a voluntary corporation and founded Cottage Hospital, Sullivan County's first and New Hampshire's third hospital. The Society, composed of women from area churches, was drawn together by a common bond to help the "feeble and poor."
Today, Valley Regional Hospital is fortunate to still have this dedicated and compassionate group of community women providing volunteer services and fundraising support for its mission to enhance the health of greater Sullivan County. LUAS members actively come together to raise funds for projects that provide those extra special touches of quality care that are so important. Blanket warmers for oncology patients, glider rockers for new moms and flat screen televisions for waiting areas are a few of their more recent projects.
115 dedicated years of supporting the health and well-being of community members! If you are interested in becoming a member of this organization, please read the Board Letter, complete the membership application and email to luas@vrh.org or mail to:
