The construction and renovation project currently underway will enhance emergency services at VRH. Most recently, construction was completed on a new helipad for when emergency medical transfers are necessary and timing is critical. Phase two of construction will include an entirely new Emergency Center, featuring a 50% increase in space, and relocation to critical services such as radiology, laboratory and surgery. When seeking services from the new Emergency Center, patients will be cared for in all private rooms including two triage rooms, six standard treatment rooms, a pediatric treatment room, two trauma rooms, two observation rooms and a psychiatric support room. VRH also will have a decontamination facility to respond to a chemical or biological contamination through the ED.
