Smoking
Valley Regional Hospital asks that visitors and patients refrain from smoking in the hospital and on the campus to preserve and protect the health of our community. For individualized assistance during a hospital stay or visit, please ask a nurse on the unit for specific information about smoking policies.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available on all nursing units. Getting in and out of them without assistance may be hazardous; please ask for help from a member of the hospital staff.
Fire Drills
For your protection, the hospital conducts fire and disaster drills regularly. If a drill occurs while you are here, please remain in your room and do not be alarmed. The hospital is a fire-resistant building and the staff is trained in fire protection.
Oxygen
Special regulations are in effect in areas where patients are receiving oxygen. If you should have any questions or concerns about what is or is not permitted, please ask a nurse.
Medications
Any medicines needed during your hospitalization will be ordered by your doctor and given to you by your nurse. If you are currently taking medications, please bring a list with you but leave the medications at home. If you have any medications with you, give them to your nurse or send them home. We want to be sure you are getting the appropriate medication during your stay.
Valuable or Lost Items
Patients are asked not to bring items of value to the hospital. Jewelry, money, and other valuables should be left at home. The hospital cannot ensure the safety of personal belongings left in patients’ rooms. If you do bring valuables with you, we ask that you send them home or allow us to place them in the hospital’s safe. Dentures, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and hearing aides should be in protective containers when not in use. Please bring containers with you to avoid loss or breakage. (Denture cups are available if needed.)
