Welcome to the Department of Anesthesia. If you need a medical procedure or treatment that requires anesthesia to manage pain (for example during a surgical procedure), we follow the guidelines established by the American Society Anesthesiologists (ASA), and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
General anesthesia is usually administered using a combination of intravenous drugs and inhaled gases. This allows the provider to manage your consciousness and pain, keeping you comfortable, throughout a given medical procedure.
Anesthesia can also be administered as a “block” numbing only a specific part of the body, for example your arm, during surgery. During this type of procedure, you will maintain consciousness.
Our department consists of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) committed to providing a safe, efficient, and pleasant anesthetic experience for all patients.
All of our CRNAs are certified yearly in basic CPR and biannually in Advance Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support from the American Heart Association. Our CRNAs are all Advanced Practice Nurse Prescribers and licensed by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
