Lymphedema

We offer Lymphedema services in our outpatient rehab department. Our Certified Lymphedema Therapists tailor treatment plans to the individual patient. At the first appointment, we review the patient’s medical history and current issues/complaints, as well as take initial measurements. Following the evaluation, we work with the patient to develop a plan of care. The treatment for Lymphedema is called Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT).

What is Lymphedema?

Chronic swelling under the skin caused by abnormal buildup of lymph fluid in tissue. Usually caused by damage to the lymphatic system after surgery, cancer related treatment, infection or genetics. Lymphedema can happen anywhere throughout the lymphatic system, but it is most commonly found in the following areas: face, chin, neck, breast, abdomen, chest wall, arm, underarm, hand, buttocks, genitals, legs, and feet.
