Dr. Wilton earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He earned his doctorate in podiatric medicine from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed a surgical residency focusing on pediatric reconstructive foot surgery under the direction of Dr. James V. Ganley at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Wilton received additional training in lower extremity peripheral nerve surgery at Union Hospital in Baltimore.

He is the past president and current board member of the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons, and co-director of the organization’s basic and advanced lower extremity peripheral nerve surgery training courses. Dr. Wilton is the Surgical Missions director for the Fr. Damien Foundation in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where he leads missions to surgically treat upper and lower extremity peripheral nerve problems in leprosy patients.
